Solar power plant Steindorf - Interactive 3D landcape visualization

  • Tranformators between the small plant
  • Rural street
  • Maize and corn as long as the eye can view
  • The large power plant looking from east to west
The Bavarian village “Steindorf” was another project which we transpose to the Company Solarfaktor. As in the interactive 3D visualization of ”Kollbach” it was designed with a high-resolution satellite imagery and digital elevation model of the local survey offices as realistic as possible environment, to show the benefits of open space solar power systems. The project used large amounts of video and photographic material for reference, since several satellite images are often not up to date or doesn’t offer a high enough resolution. In the 4-square-mile 3D visualization are two smaller areas that can be hidden depending on demand for alternative sites to represent. It was possible here for live demonstrations of new ideas and changes the look in real time.

Results were immediately visible to all parties and could be examined for their benefits. This significantly accelerated the decision-making process. Solarfaktor could also save cost in the development of interactive 3D visualization, since many of the 3D digital models (solar college gates, vegetation and infrastructure) could be reused from the previous project. This underlines the sustainability of 3D visualization from a single source. Often, follow-up orders with similar requirements are much cheaper than new developments and the benefits are greater with a smaller investment.

See the project description of Kollbach for an more in-depth look on how we develop those interesting projects.
